Apprenticeships

The Apprenticeship Scheme is a great way for young individuals like you to access the
care industry when previously you may not have had the opportunity to gain experience
in this field. A scheme like this could lead to a rewarding and challenging career!

We are working in partnership with Filton College and
JHP Training. As an apprentice, you will gain practical
experience within our care homes/support services whilst our
partners will assess and support you to successfully complete
an NVQ level 2/Diploma in Health and Social Care.

How it will work

It will take 2 years to complete your NVQ 2/Diploma and to
gain enough experience to become a Support Worker with
the Trust.

The Trust will provide:

  • Work placement to match your interest and geographical
location, which will be evaluated during the recruitment
phase to ensure a good match.
  • All statutory training with certificates that are nationally recognised
and valid for 1-5 years depending on the subject. Find out more.
  • 1 Year Fixed Term Contract which will be extended for the duration of
the Apprentice Scheme dependant upon your progress. With the majority of
the benefits of being employed by the Trust.
  • £95 per week for at least the first 6 months. This will gradually increase
throughout the scheme. Download a Full Breakdown of Scheme and increment.
  • Training provider to deliver NVQ 2/Diploma, Technical Certificate and
possibly Functional Skills (Literacy/Numeracy) if required - This would be FREE.
  • Continual support from home managers, mentors, training providers
and Apprentice Coordinator and thorough 6 month induction period.
  • An option to work on a casual basis with our Staff Bank or a permanent position
(where available) on successful completion of programme.
  • Further developmental opportunities and training to progress your career,
including: opportunities include: Team Leading, Management, Social Work
    and Mental Health Nursing.
  • Option to become a Care Ambassador with the Trust to share your
experiences with local schools and colleges promoting a career
in Health and Social Care. Full training and support given.

We believe that by giving you this opportunity we are supporting our local community
as well as our clients.

To enable us to promote a truly diverse workforce and to meet the requirements of our service users, the Trust is keen to recruit younger workers. So in September 2009 Aspects and Milestones Trust launched its new Support Worker Apprenticeship Scheme.

By setting up an Apprenticeship Scheme for 16-24 year olds, our aim is not only to celebrate and promote the care industry, but also to welcome new talent and provide a recognised career path for that talent.

Current Successes!

Here are comments from just 2 of this year's apprentices:

Jodie Greening - Hesding Close

"I am an apprentice care worker at Hesding Close and it was the best decision I ever made doing the apprenticeship there. I have learnt a lot of skills, I have been respected and have made lots of friends.

I really enjoy working here because everybody treats you the same, its a very good experience, you learn a lot about different illnesses and it gives you an amazing feeling knowing that you are helping people."

Rhianne Thom – Mortimer House

"When I started my apprenticeship I was very shy and this experience has helped my confidence grow. This was a great opportunity for me and I have met so many nice people."
